Meta Updated WhatsApp for Mac with Video Calling

Meta has updated its WhatsApp desktop app for Mac users, adding new features such as video calling and improved chat history. The update also includes a redesigned user interface that is more familiar to Mac users.

The video calling feature allows users to make voice and video calls to other WhatsApp users on their Mac. The call history has also been improved to make it easier to find previous calls.

The main addition to the WhatsApp for Mac app is expanded group video calling, with users now able to make calls with up to 8 people, and up to 32 participants for audio chats.

WhatsApp has been expanding its video calling capabilities to keep up with changing user behaviour and provide a more engaging and connected experience. Recently, the app added screen sharing to video calls and video messages, building on its core messaging features.

The new WhatsApp desktop app for Mac also includes improved drag-and-drop file sharing, an updated chat history display, and more. All of these features are protected by WhatsApp’s standard end-to-end encryption.

As concerns about data security have grown, WhatsApp has continued to see increased usage. Meta reported in October 2022 that North America is now WhatsApp’s fastest-growing region.

For a long time, WhatsApp was seen as an app for developing markets, and it remains the leading messaging platform in many regions. However, the growth in U.S. usage represents a new opportunity for the app, which could lead to more businesses considering using it for communication.

The new desktop apps could be particularly beneficial for businesses, as they allow users to make video calls and send messages from their computers. Additionally, more businesses are now using click-to-message ads and paid messaging on WhatsApp, making it a valuable platform for businesses to reach their target audience.

If you are a business, it is worth considering how you can use WhatsApp to connect with your customers and grow your business. The new desktop apps and other features make it a powerful tool for communication and marketing.
