OpenAI’s GPT-4: Human-Level AI Performance in Benchmarks

Picture this: a cutting-edge artificial intelligence model that can process both text and images as inputs, and generate coherent and meaningful responses. That’s exactly what GPT- 4 is – a large and powerful multimodal model that’s paving the way for exciting new developments in the world of AI.

Open AI has now released the much-awaited version of its AI model: GPT- 4.

GPT-4 surpasses its predecessors in several ways and has achieved nearly human-level performance in various professional and academic benchmarks.

The Future of AI-Language Models: A Deep Dive into GPT- 4’s Multimodal Capabilities

In order to understand and showcase the differences between GPT-4 and its predecessors, OpenAI conducted simulated exams using the most recent publicly available Olympiads and AP free response questions.

Despite not being specifically trained for these exams, GPT-4 delivered surprising results that highlighted its exceptional capabilities. In a simulated bar exam, it was among the top 10% of test takers.

The biggest limitation of GPT 4 is that it doesn’t have real-time access to the internet. Just like GPT 3.5, it is unaware of any event that happened after September 2021.

The consequences? The outputs it generate may not always be factually correct. It can create buggy code, and provide irrelevant information and its answers may not be reliable.

Compared to the previous version, GPT-4 is 82% less likely to produce inappropriate content and has improved adherence to policies regarding sensitive topics like medical advice and self-harm.

Although there is still room for improvement, these results demonstrate GPT-4‘s promising potential for enabling ethical and beneficial AI applications.

The waitlist for the text version of GPT 4 is now open.

OpenAI recognizes that GPT-4’s capabilities have the power to both benefit and potentially harm society. That’s why they are actively collaborating with other researchers to better understand the implications and develop guidelines for the responsible use of AI technology.

With continued effort and innovation, GPT-4 and other advanced language models have the potential to revolutionize various industries and improve people’s lives.
