YouTube Shorts, the short-form video platform from YouTube, is introducing six new features to boost creativity and improve the user experience. The new features include:
- Collab: This feature allows creators to collaborate on Shorts by filming a video alongside other YouTube or Short videos in a side-by-side format. YouTube has launched a new tool called Collab that allows creators to record Shorts in a split-screen format alongside other YouTube or Shorts videos. Collab is currently rolling out to iOS users and will be available on Android over the next few weeks. To use Collab, creators can tap the “Remix” button on a Shorts video and then select the “Collab” option. This will open a new screen where the creator can choose which other video they want to collaborate with. Once the creator has selected the other video, they can start recording their own Short in a split-screen format.
- Remix: This feature allows creators to remix other Shorts videos by adding their own commentary, reactions, or edits. YouTube Shorts, the short-form video platform from YouTube, is adding a new Q&A sticker that will allow creators to ask questions and get responses from their audience in the comments. The sticker is designed to give creators more opportunities to connect with their viewers and get feedback on their content.
- Go Live: This feature allows creators to go live with Shorts videos, giving them the opportunity to interact with their audience in real time.YouTube is experimenting with a new vertical live-streaming feature that is optimized for mobile devices. This new feature will allow live streamers to be found directly within the YouTube Shorts feed. The goal of this experiment is to give live-streaming creators an innovative way to reach new audiences and grow their communities. By making live streams more discoverable in a full-screen vertical format, creators can connect with viewers across more parts of YouTube. This is especially important for creators who are already making Shorts, as they will now be able to live stream their content directly to their Shorts audience.
- Shorts playlist: This feature allows creators to save Shorts videos to playlists, making it easier for viewers to find and watch their favourite content. YouTube has added a new feature that allows creators to save Shorts videos to playlists straight from the Shorts feed. This new feature makes it easier for creators to collect and organize content they enjoy watching, and to find inspiration for their own Shorts videos. To save a Shorts video to a playlist, creators simply need to tap the three dots icon in the top right corner of the video and select “Save to playlist.” They can then create a new playlist or add the video to an existing one.
These new features are designed to give creators more tools and inspiration to create engaging and creative Shorts videos. YouTube is also making it easier for viewers to discover and watch Shorts videos, with new features such as a dedicated Shorts tab in the YouTube app.
With these new features, YouTube Shorts is well-positioned to continue its growth and become a major player in the short-form video market.
