Llama 2 boasts an impressive 1.4 trillion parameters, making it more accurate and fluent in performing complex tasks like generating coherent text, language translation, and providing comprehensive answers to questions.

This release marks a significant step for Microsoft, as it positions them as a serious competitor to OpenAI, the current leader in generative AI models. Llama 2 is freely available, further emphasising Meta and Microsoft’s commitment to open source development.

As part of their partnership, Llama 2 will be accessible in the Azure AI model catalog, enabling developers to leverage the AI tool with Microsoft’s cloud-native tools for content filtering and safety features.

Additionally, Llama 2 is optimized to run smoothly on Windows, ensuring a seamless workflow for developers across various platforms.

Microsoft’s substantial investments in LLMs, including $10 billion in OpenAI, demonstrate their dedication to becoming a key platform for connecting consumers with powerful AI tools.

With Llama 2 now integrated into their products alongside GPT, Microsoft aims to establish itself as a prominent player in the emerging AI development space. The shared vision of open source development between Meta and Microsoft indicates that they believe this collaborative approach will lead to more helpful and safer generative AI applications.
