Instagram Announces 3 New Features: Notes, Candid Stories & Nominations

Instagram has recently announced new features on the platform to help people connect with their friends on the app.

Instagram Notes

Now, you can share notes (which are 60-character posts) notes with the people you follow back or your close friends. These notes will appear on the top of their inbox and their responses will show in your DMs.

“During testing, we learned that people liked having a lightweight, easy way to share what’s on their mind and start conversations. From asking for recommendations to sharing what they’re up to, Notes give people a casual and spontaneous way to express themselves and connect with each other.” – Instagram

Nominations – Pass It On

With this new update, if you like a trend or prompt in Instagram stories, you can now share it with your friends and encourage them to participate.

Since we launched Add Yours in Stories last year, we’ve seen how prompts help inspire people to share in unplanned and creative ways. We’re testing an update to Add Yours where you can invite friends to participate by tapping “pass it on” when you see a prompt that reminds you of them. – Instagram

Candid Stories

These stories will only be visible to those who share their own candid stories with you. They will help you share private moments with the people you’re close to. This feature will encourage you to connect with your inner circle and create new memories.

After you create your first candid story, you will receive daily reminders to create another to share with your friends.

Group Profile And Collaborative Collections

Soon, you will also be able to create a group profile on Instagram. The posts and stories you share in your group profile will not be shared with your followers.

Instagram is also testing collaborative collections. This is an excellent way to share ideas that inspire you with your special friends.

Connecting with friends is a core part of the Instagram experience, and we’ll continue to test and build features that help you feel closer with them.
