Whatsapp Launches Proxy Servers To Help You Connect With Others Even During Internet Shutdown

Whatsapp is now setting up local servers all over the world, to help people connect with others and “seek urgent help” even during the internet shutdown.

This move is in response to the Iranian government shutting down the internet for months.

“Our wish for 2023 is that these internet shutdowns never occur. Disruptions like we’ve seen in Iran for months on end deny people’s human rights and cut people off from receiving urgent help. Though in case these shutdowns continue, we hope this solution helps people wherever there is a need for secure and reliable communication.” – Whatsapp

How To Connect With A Proxy Server On Whatsapp?

To connect with a proxy server on Whatsapp,

  1. Go to settings
  2. Select Storage And Data
  3. Choose Proxy
  4. Enter and save the proxy address

A green checkmark will confirm the connection.

To you are a volunteer or an NGO and would like to create a proxy address, please go through the Whatsapp documentation on Git Hub.

It is true that the Iranian government may end up banning Whatsapp in the country. But, Whatsapp, as always, continues to make communication simple, seamless and protected.
