Instagram’s Music Features Get a Major Upgrade

Adding music to static posts or profiles has a bit of a MySpace vibe, but there’s a possibility that it can be done well. For example, playing a Jack Jones track over your holiday snaps could enhance the viewing experience. Instagram seems to agree, as they’ve added a new feature that allows users to add music to photo carousel posts.

Instagram added the ability to add music to feed photos last November, as part of its expanded music licensing agreements with the major labels. Now, you can also play songs over your carousel uploads, which could be a great way to add contextual atmosphere to your posts. This could be especially popular among certain user groups, such as travel bloggers or fashion influencers.

In addition to this, Instagram is expanding its collaborative posting feature. This will now allow you to post an update with up to three other people, and the update will be seen by a broader audience. This is an expansion of Instagram’s original collaborative posts option, which was first launched in 2021. Instagram previewed this latest update last month, and this announcement officially confirms that it is expanding collabs to three people.

Interestingly, Instagram is also testing another collaborative posting element that would enable you to share updates that anyone else would be able to contribute to. This would take the collaborative approach to a new level, allowing users to create truly community-driven content.

Instagram is also expanding access to its Music Library, which will allow more users to find and use music in their posts. This is a great way for users to connect with their favourite artists and songs, and it could also help to promote new music.

In addition, Instagram is partnering with Spotify to create a new Reels Music Chart. This chart will highlight the most popular songs from Instagram Reels in Mexico and Brazil. This is a great way to showcase the music that is resonating with users on Instagram, and it could also help to introduce new music to Spotify listeners.

Overall, Instagram is making a number of changes that are focused on user participation and engagement. These changes could help Instagram to stay ahead of the competition and continue to be a popular platform for users to share their lives with the world.
